Obituary of Gweneth Wilbur
Marlene Gweneth Wilbur died peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her four children on Friday, April 2 nd , 2021.
Marlene Gweneth Wilbur, (born Thompson) of St. Andrews, NB. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, she was the daughter of the late William Leslie Thompson and Orca Ellen (Jones) Thompson.
Marlene graduated from the University of Saskatoon with a degree in BSc in 1951. She worked as a laboratory technician for various organizations before meeting and marrying Richard Humphrey Wilbur in October of 1953. Marlene and Richard raised four children; daughters Leslie (Bernard Albert) of Ottawa, ON, Gwyneth (David Thompson) of Elmsville, NB, Sarah (Ian Woodman) of Edmonton ,AB and son ,Patrick (Andrea McIntyre) of Quispamsis,NB, six grandchildren; Thereon, Dylan, Emily, Zoélie, Grant , Ross and one great-granddaughter Cordelia.
In 1982 Marlene and Richard returned to NB from Quebec to settle in St. Andrews. Marlene worked for 15 years at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre as a Scientific Documentalist.
Marlene was predeceased by her brother Harold, her sister Pauline and her loving husband of 62 years Richard.
