I was so sorry to hear of Marlene’s passing. They were wonderful neighbours and always had a moment to catch up with our family. I will always think of both Dick and Marlene out sawing wood no matter how cold it was. They said it was good exercise! I will remember them both with fondness. Anne (Doon) Tingley

Sending our sincere condolences to the families. I worked at Huntsman Marine Science Centre when Marlene worked there. She and Mildred Scott were two wonderful women to be around. Marlene was such a sweet and smart woman and was always so nice to me and I remember her soft spoken voice. And when she retired she never failed to speak to me when she met me down town. She and Dick were lovely people to know. And Rod said the same to me in chatting about Marlene, how nice a couple they were. So sorry for your loss.

My sincere sympathy to all the family. We shared many happy years with Dick and Marlene as friends and next door neighbours. I think of all the hours we saw the two of them outside sawing logs - they had boundless energy. They were very interesting individuals as well as sharing great interest in the community.

My most sincere sympathies Gwyneth to you and your siblings. I will never forget the time I rushed to go give a ride to your Mom and Dad when they got caught in an instant “downpour” which also brought thunder & lightning & they were far from any shelters. They had just walked past my house where I noticed them. Walking “around The Point” like the townies would say is great till you are far away from home and a storm erupts. There wasn’t any shelter at the time. For their safety, I had to go and I’m glad I had just met two very wonderful interesting people.
Sorry for your loss of both of them. They will be sadly missed. Know people are there for you in thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, L
