I was surprised to read of your Mom's passing. I do have a funny memory. Edith made a date with your Mom to get her ears pierced, with a cube of ice and a darning needle. I tagged along, for some unknown reason and succumbed to having mine done also, your Mom must have had a set of sleepers. Well a few days later my pastor arrived home and asked me to return to Beulah Camp to help in the kitchen which was short staffed. Mom informed me the sleepers had to come out as ear rings were not permitted at Family Camp. So out they came and I was off to Beulah for the first time. I never got my ears pierced again.
God Bless as you each travel this mile of the road of Life.
Blessings

Am so very sorry to hear of Doris’s passing. She lived a long and full life and I can remember when I was a child on Grand Manan the Griffin home was a gathering spot for the kids and Doris seemed to be a big part of activities there. To paraphrase a term my mom always used…she was “as cute as a bugs ear “ when it came to activities for the kids. She always seemed to be doing laundry and the house always smelled delicious.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Doris’s family. To Gwen, Nancy and Gail she is with Rupert now and smiling down on all of you.
Fly with the angels Doris…may you Rest In Peace.
Many hugs and much love to all, Wanda MacDonnell ( Cowie )

We are saddened to hear of Doris’ passing. We (Josh, Tavia, Cayna (16), Saida (9) Cheney) met Doris around 10 years ago when we rented the ‘Blue Lobster’ cottage/house beside her on the old airport road. Each subsequent summer visit to the island we’d be sure to stop by for a visit or 2 or 3 throughout the week. She’d tell all manner of stories—some serious, some ridiculous…like Teddy the dog who loved a parade (and she’d proceed to mimic for us the smile Teddy had on his face, which added a Doris flavour to the story). We admired her zest for life and persistence to obtaining her goals—to walk, to stay limber, to see, to remain positive in the face of struggle. She left her mark on our family. My girls experienced being cared for and a witness to a strong mindset, enjoyment for people and the simple things like an annual summer visit. She ‘d collect candy all year in anticipation of our daughters’ visit. She got a kick out of ‘Chewie’, our 10 lb ‘morkie-poo’ dog. He’d curiously explore her kitchen and come back and inevitably get picked up by Doris for a good squeeze and kiss. Doris has left us with fond memories, and more importantly, a reminder of the importance of getting to know your neighbours. We’ll miss you Doris.

Oh I just want to say that Doris introduced me to Mrs. Browns boys . We would watch it and just laugh and laugh. I always saw Doris with a big smile on but watching that show wow she just loved it and she would tell me. Wait, wait just wait till you see this. I have never seen that show ever. She had the whole series on dvd so we could pause and hang her clothes or go to the bathroom before we would pee our pants lol. Redwing was the best button if it was a really funny scene. Doris they just don’t make people like you anymore. You touched so many lives. I will miss you thank you for all the freebies and cold drinks when I was mowing your lawn. I will really miss you. To her daughters it doesn’t matter what age our Moms are when they pass it’s a very difficult time . I will be thinking of you in the next few days
