Celebration of Life
Obituary of Hugh R. Graham
GRAHAM HUGH R. – Unexpectedly in St. Andrews, NB on Monday September 18th, 2023, Hugh R. Graham. Born in St Stephen, NB on August 1, 1944, he is the son of the late Maxine and James Graham of St Andrews, NB.
Hugh was employed with Canada Post Corp as Postmaster St Andrews and later as Regional Retail Rep prior to his retirement in 2002 after 34 years. His creative letter writing and penmanship have been enjoyed by the children of the community for decades.
Living in St Andrews allowed Hughie to indulge a passion for golf on an award-winning golf course be it as caddy master, golfer or ball hunting with his constant “companion”.
In the off season, Hughie could be found at the local curling club, refereeing hockey or just enjoying a single malt with friends. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences especially the 1972 Canada Russia Hockey Series which he proudly attended in Moscow.
For those who knew Hughie, the term “character” would easily come to mind. He had no shortage of entertaining stories to tell or considered opinions to share with his friends, family and the occasional stranger, who would not be a stranger for long.
He and his daily messages will be dearly missed by all. He was constantly in touch with so many people sharing his love of history, photos and life. His uncanny recall of dates and trivia never ceased to amaze us. He will be remembered for all the heart and laughter he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them.
Hughie is survived by his partner Barb Sheen, his children Erik (Yoriko) of Whistler, BC, Emilee (Marc) of New Liskeard ON, Reilly (Sarah) of North Vancouver BC, Hilary (Tommy) of Jetzendorf, Germany, Barb’s children William (Noelle) of Tyne Valley PE, Dennis (Janice) Toronto ON Philip (Dianna) of Mississauga, ON and Ellen (Adrian) of Rothesay, NB; seven grandchildren, Ada, Graham, Sean, Olivia, Emma, Lucas and Sophia; his sister, Chris Graham of St Andrews, NB and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Jimmy and a beloved aunt, Christine Fuqua.
