Obituary of Lila G. Haughn
HAUGHN LILA G. – At the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, NB on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, at the age of 99 years; Lila Greta (Cross) Haughn, wife of the late John Haughn of St. Andrews, NB. Born in Beaver Harbour, NB, she is the daughter of the late Leslie & Sarah (Fletham) Cross.
Lila worked for 42 years at the Algonquin Hotel where they named one of the Suite’s “The Lila Suite” in the new section after her. She was a long time active member of the All Saints Anglican Church, as a choir member, and serving on the ACW and as their President. She was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 8 Ladies Auxillary. She still volunteered at the Charlotte County Archives to this day.
Lila loved to curl and enjoyed all kinds of flowers, specifically daffodils and red geraniums in the spring. She was always up for an adventure and spent many years travelling with Lois and Verna. She was fiercely proud to be a member of the St. Andrews community and won an award for all her volunteer work.
Lila is survived by her Son Jim (Denise) of St. Andrews, NB, Granddaughters Sherry (Dan) Coulton and Angela (Keith) MacCallum, and Great Granddaughters Emma Ray, Emma Grace and Sophie. Also her brother Gordon of Newfoundland, sister Verna McFarlane of St. Andrews, NB, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brothers Arnold “Skid”, Ewen and Milton “Moe” Cross and sister in laws Joyce Cross and Kaye Cross.
By Lila’s request there will be no visitation. A funeral service, in celebration of her life will be held at Greenock Presbyterian Church in St. Andrews, NB on Tuesday, August 22nd at 2:00 pm. Archdeacon John Matheson will be officiating. The interment will immediately follow in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to All Saints Anglican Church or Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8 St. Andrews, would be appreciated by the family. On line condolences to the family or donations can be made at www.humphreysfh.com
