I met Lila curling. My favorite memory of her was the night she listed off all she had accomplished that day, it was a full exhausting list. She ended the story with "I keep forgetting I am not 85 anymore". At the time she was 87. She proceeded to go out on the ice and never missed a shot. Such an inspiration.

Jim, Denise, and family,
I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Lila’s passing. I don’t think that I have to remind you how wonderful both my parents thought she was. I am sure that they are rejoicing to be reunited with her. She was a great friend and support to both of them, and indeed to me. I can’t imagine St. Andrews without her. I will remember with fondness our visits with her in St. Andrews after Mom moved to Riverview, and I am so glad that I was able to see her the last time I was in town in 2019.

Please accept my condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Lila at the Algonquin from 1965 through 1970. I will alway remember her cherry “good morning” as she came to work from the lake. If there was any information about the Algonquin you needed to know, ask Lila. She also contributed greatly to the Archives with great improvements being made in the photographic collection.
My sympathies

We at the Charlotte County Archives will never forget Lila and especially her dedication to our photograph collection. The many, many years of attention and care she gave so generously to her volunteer time with us are an incredible gift and legacy. Her spirit and intelligence inspired us all. We were always awed by her commitment to computer database entry, even at 99! We will miss her, and send our condolences and care to all those friends, family, and community members who are feeling the same. Thank you, LIla, for everything.
