Teaching with Lauris was certainly one of the highlights of my teaching career. Such a character; a grumpy communist at times :) and a passionate teacher. His love of his children and his wife were palpable. Always. His feelings for politicians, and policies…also palpable. A bunch of us - our families, his family - were together on Campobello the day Princess Diana died. I have always remembered this when something about her comes up. Lauris and Princess Diana. I seem to recall his feelings about the monarchy as well. I missed him when he retired. My heart goes out to all of you. I am so sorry. Jane and Mark Tunney.

So sorry to learn that Lauris has passed away. I became acquainted with him, while cutting his hair over many years. We always had interesting, and diverse, conversations, during his visits to my Shop. As he always said " You NEVER know!" How right he was. I am very glad I got to know Lauris, and will miss seeing him. Sending my sincere sympathy to all of you, his family, Take good care...

So sorry to hear of your loss. Upon my retirement, I was fortunate to have Lauris assume some of my courses at Simonds High School. He was always great to talk to and a dedicated professional.

My deepest condolences to Janna and the entire Lahey Family. Lauris was a long time family friend. We shared many good times together, especially around music and long philosophical discussions. As his late Grandmother, Hazel Lahey, used to say, “Lauris was a deep thinker.” He will be forever missed.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I've only seen Lauris a few times since he left Campbell but he'd always stop to chat like he'd seen you just yesterday. In the last year or so he'd been sending Declan, my grandson, words of encouragement with his music. That was so appreciated. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family Janna.

To Janna and family we extend our heartfelt condolences on Lauris’s death. Although an infrequent visitor to our home it was always with great joy that we welcomed Lauris to our kitchen table, there to discuss the many philosophical issues of the day.We will miss his humour and wisdom in our discussions.

Laurie, you were a good friend. I remember the summers you spent across the road from us .
The rainy days playing bingo and monopoly in your grandparents garage.
I will miss running into you occasionally when you were in town
You never failed to ask about mom.
