Obituary of Emery R Matthews
Matthews, Emery R. (Buster) – On August 10th 2021, on Campobello Island surrounded by his loving family.
Emery Raymond Matthews of Wilson’s Beach, NB. Born in St Stephen, NB, he is the son of the late Emery and Rheta Mae (Lank) Matthews.
Surviving are three daughters; Marianne Alexander (Glenn) of Wilson’s Beach, Joan Jacobs (Dr. Steven) of Islamorada, FL, and Carolyn Gauthier (Rick) of Morrisdale, brother-in-law Graham Savage of Wilson’s Beach, eight grandchildren; Stacie (Chris), Matthew (Krista), Jessica (Brad), Paula, Laura (Lucas), Beth (Curtis), Benjamin and Noah. Eleven great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Emery was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 62 years, June Lavonne (Savage) Matthews, in August of 2014. Two brothers, Audber (Vera) and Burton (Cecille), two sisters Bessie (William) Fitzgerald, Vivian (Stanley) Henderson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Irene and Ralph Mawhinney, sister-in-law Doreen Savage, nephews Winston Matthews, John “Johnny” Henderson, Ronald Savage and Stephen Savage.
Resting at Wilson’s Beach United Baptist Church from where the service will be held on Tuesday, August 17th at 2pm. Visitation on Monday, August 16th from 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Wilson’s Beach Community Cemetery c/o Lois Flynn 329 Back Rd. Wilson’s Beach, NB E5E 1P4; Wilson’s Beach United Baptist Church c/o Philip Martin 19 Martin Rd. Wilson’s Beach, NB E5E 1N4, or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
