Ms. Mitchell heard my name at the pharmacy and asked if I was her student at Vincent Massey Elementary.
I told her yes, that because of her slideshows of vacation trips with Mabel White I had become an engineer who travelled the world and learned other languages. I was one of her success stories. We chatted a bit, in Spanish.
It felt good to catch up to her after all those years. I am saddened to learn of her passing. She was a spot of light in my life.

In memory of Marguerette (Margarita for us), We have had very good times with her, because of her affable and loving character, she made herself love. We remembered her doing needlepoint in the porch at home, like this kind of bookmarks in the picture above. We will always remember her fondly. We will see each other in the Heavenly Homeland, thank you for your service to the work of God.

I’m so sorry to hear the news of Miss Mitchell‘s passing. So many fond memories of her. She kept everyone in line as our grade 6 teacher many years ago. I always saw her downtown over the years and we would stop and chat. She had a sharp memory and said she remembered all her students... sweet to say that I still looked the same ( after 40 years +) Sending my condolences. Jill Polar-Simm

We loved sister Marguerette. She endeared herself to our family in Málaga, Spain when we was the Sunday school teacher for our children. She impacted their lives, especially of our firstborn daughter, Jenna Sider, who later passed away from stomach cancer. During her illness, Marguerette was so tender and communicative and caring for Jenna and for us. Visits to her and Mabel in St Andrews are special memories. She is already missed. I had hoped to make another visit to see her in this life but will just have to wait a bit longer and reconnect in glory.
Sending our condolences to her family and many friends,
Bruce and Pam Sider, Málaga, Spain.

I was in St.Andrews at Tim Horton’s a couple of years ago and there was Miss Mitchell. She never changed! I didn’t have her as my grade 6 teacher, because I had Mr. Mitchell, but I remember her vividly ringing that huge bell at the Prince Arthur. She was a fine woman who dedicated her life to the service of others. She will be missed.
