Obituary of Arthur William Mears
The death of Arthur (Red) William Mears occurred at the Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen on Saturday, January 18, 2003. Born in Wallasey, England he was the son of the late Wm. Henry and Mildred (Wilkinson) Mears. He had served in the U.S. 136th Navel Construction Battalion "Seabees" during the Second World War, serving in the Pacific area. After he moving to St. Stephen and had worked for many years with the Ganong Bros., then to the Department of Labour in Fredericton. He was past president of St. Croix Branch #9, of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a member of Milltown United Church. Predeceased by his parents and one sister Rene Hailer. He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Budd) Mears; two daughters, Gerri Behm of Enderby, B.C and Nancy (David) Feiner of Calais; four grandchildren, Ellen Tobey of Seattle, Kelly Tobey of New York City, Robert Behm of Calgary, Bradley Behm of Calgary. Resting at MacDonald Select Community Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral will be held 2 pm on Thursday from MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Boyce Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. Members of Branch #9 Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute service following the funeral service. For those who wish, donations to Milltown United Church, Lincourt Manor or to a charity of the donors choice would be ppreciated.
