Obituary of Leon E. Newman
The death of Leon E. Newman, Campobello, New Brunswick occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 30, 2004. Born in Campobello, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Harvey and Julia Newman. Predeceased by his parents; one brother, Clifford Newman; twin great grandchildren, Skyler and Dawson. He is survived by his wife, Verna (Mitchell) Newman; daughter, Natalie (Dana Barker) of Campobello; sons, Donald (Alice) of Alexander, Maine and Harvey (Brenda) of Campobello; brothers, Vaughan Newman (Sissy) of Campobello and Blair Newman (Gloria) of Campobello; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held 2 pm on Monday, August 2, 2004 from Wilson's Beach United Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry VanderVeen officiating. Organist was Rola VanderVeen with Ross Stephenson as soloist. Honourary Bearers were Lee Newman, Graham Savage, Fred (Buster) McLellan and Roland Chaney. Bearers were Winslow Newman, Larry Newman, Bud Chislett, Bud Newman, Michael Calder and Stephen Anthony. Interment took place in the Head Harbour Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Wilson's Beach United Baptist Church, the Edith Lank Memorial Camp, or to a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated. MacDonald Select Community Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, in care of arrangements.
