Obituary
Obituary of Lillian Annie Vance Baker
The death of Lillian (Lil) Baker of Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews (formerly of Saint John) occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the age of 91. Lillian was born in Montreal, the only child of Arthur Pearson and Alexandria Jane (Howitt) Pearson. Educated in Toronto, Lillian worked for the Gillette Corporation in Montreal before marrying George Stewart (Bud) Baker in 1939. After the birth of her only child, Stewart, the family moved to Saint John, where she was employed for many years at Calps Limited. A very special place for Lil for many years was their summer cottage at Drury Cove. In later years, Lil and her husband Bud, owned and operated Baker's Furs in Fredericton. After Bud's death, Lil moved back to Saint John to live with her son and his family. Lil was an avid and talented craftsperson, knitting, making dolls and many wonderful needlework pieces. She also loved sports being a staunch baseball fan, and in her early years held provincial bowling records. She doted on her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She is survived by one son, Stewart (Carol), and grandsons, Matthew and Thomas. A memorial service will be held on a date to be announced. The family would appreciate donations to Charlotte County Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the charity of their choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to MacDonald Select Community Funeral Home, 20, Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB. (506-466-3110)
