Obituary of Gordon Eugene Christie
CHRISTIE, CRUNCH … At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 27th, 2010, Gordon Eugene “Crunch” Christie of St. Stephen, NB. Born in St. Stephen he is the son of Jean (Hyslop) Christie of St. Stephen and the late Gordon Walter Christie. Eugene worked in and around the St Stephen area involving himself in his work in several different capacities. He worked with the Town of St Stephen, taught as a supply teacher with School District 10. He also worked as a custodian for the Royal Canadian Legion St Croix Branch # 9, and in earlier years with the Foundry as a foreman. Surviving in addition to his mother Jean Christie, are his sister Elaine McGowan (Patrick) of Edmonton, Alberta, and his brother Jeffrey (Joyce) of Fredericton, NB, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service in celebration of his life will be held in the chapel of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB on Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Dr. Mark Hatfield will officiate. The interment will follow in the Moore’s Mills Rural Cemetery. Donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
