Obituary of G. Myles DeLong
The death of G. Myles DeLong of St. Stephen occurred on Tuesday, September 29th at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Hampton, NB on April 11, 1927, he was the son of the late George and Estella (Fowler) DeLong of Penobsquis, NB. Myles was a Forest Ranger with the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources for 40 yrs until his retirement in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, J. Ernestine (Cosman) DeLong; his 3 children, Blaine (Mary Lou) DeLong of St. Stephen, Bev (Mike) Cavanagh of Saint John, and Leslie-Jo (Brian) Melanson of Moncton; his beloved grandchildren Zac & Garrett DeLong, Jesse Melanson, Carter & Charlie Cavanagh; his sister, Mary Powers of Moncton, his brothers, John (Helen) of Halifax and David (Marilyn) of Medicine Hat, AB and by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Myles was predeceased by his grandson Cameron Cavanagh and by brothers Gordon, Bill, and Don. Visitation will be held at Humphrey's Funeral Home in St. Stephen 20 Marks Street on Thursday from 2 – 4 pm and from from 7 – 9pm. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday October 2 at Union St. Atlantic Baptist Church with Rev Dr. Garth Williams officiating. Internment will take place at the Midland Cemetery in Midland, NB on Saturday October 3 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Union St Church building fund are appreciated by the family.
