Obituary of Deidre Cline
Deidre Cline, better known as Nancy to friends and family, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 in St. Stephen, NB. She was born in 1929 in Norwood, MA, to Leslie and Mary Frost. Nancy grew up in Norwood with her two sisters and graduated from Norwood High School and Peabody School for Girls with a diploma in Culinary Science. While spending summers on Campobello Island, she met Edward “Roger” Cline and they were married on September 4, 1948. Nancy and Roger built their home in Welshpool on Campobello in 1951 and have lived there ever since. In 1957, she gave birth to their daughter, Elizabeth. Nancy was a life-long member of St. Anne's Anglican Church and a member of St. Anne's guild for 60 years. She volunteered her services to St, John Ambulance on Campobello for many years, serving as an ambulance attendant and as an instructor. She was awarded the Serving Sister of St. John Ambulance medal in Ottawa, ON, for her outstanding dedication to that organization. Nancy was an extremely talented quilt maker. She loved to craft hand-made quilts to mark the graduations of her granddaughters, anniversaries, and other special occasions in her family. St. Anne’s Church Guild honored her in 2004 by dedicating their semi-annual quilt show to Nancy. She loved spending evenings chatting to friends at church suppers and spending summer days on the deck of the family camp in Whiting. She was incredibly lucky and seemed to win door prizes at nearly every event she attended. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and her ability to chat to anyone and everyone. She will be greatly missed. Nancy is predeceased by her two sisters, Isabelle “Ducky” Glazebrook of Walpole, MA and Janet Fitzsimmons of Campobello Island, and her life-long friend Clara Rogers of Norwood, MA. She is survived and is sorely missed by her husband of nearly 60 years, Edward Cline; her daughter Elizabeth and husband Jack Dinsmore of Millinocket, ME; two granddaughters, Catherine and husband Chris Singley of Topsham, ME, and Kelly Dinsmore of Millinocket, ME and Ashford, CT; and several nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Kim Farmer. She leaves behind many good friends on Campobello and in the surrounding area. Funeral services are planned for Friday, May 16th at 1:00 PM Atlantic time at St. Anne's Church on Campobello. Visiting hours will be Thursday, May 15th from 7-9 (Atlantic time) at St. Anne's Church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to Charlotte County Cancer Society or to St. Anne’s Church would be appreciated by the family.
