Obituary of Marguerite Elizabeth Caswell
Caswell, Marguerite Elizabeth Marguerite Elizabeth (Kerr) Caswell passed away December 22, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born May 30, 1913 at Milltown, New Brunswick, she will be sadly missed by her daughter Kathie and Joe Despres. She is also survived by William Caswell (Ann) and Reed Johnson Jr.; step-grandchildren Fred Caswell (Crystal), Sharon Caswell (John), Kenny Johnson, Dale Johnson (Judy), Dana Johnson (Melissa), Larry Smith (Belinda), Joanne Bartlett, Gary Smith (Amy), Jason and Joshua Despres; several step-great grandchildren. ‘Arguerite dearly loved her special children Jacob Lambert-Despres and Kole Hooley. Marguerite is also survived by sisters-in-law, Dorothy McIntee and Vera Caswell and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Marguerite appreciated the special bond she had with cousin Avis Moffitt and her daughter Debbie, John Bires (Linda Holmes), David Bires (Susan), and Marsha Gagnon; their children Rebecca Smith (Jason), David Bires (Nikki), Sarah Bires (Tim), John Lee Bires (Mandy), Amy Gagnon, Emily Gagnon, Gene Greco. She also enjoyed the visits of nieces Sandi Jensen (NY), Michelle Foley (Mass.), Allan Kerr (Carolyn, Dwight, Susan, Sue-Ann) and Joan Gunter (Andy). Predeceased by her husband Hugh B. Caswell, step-daughter Priscilla Johnson, and cousin Allison Greco. Marguerite worked in the Milltown Cotton Mill from 1927 until it closed, then re-trained and worked at Garcelon Stamp Company until she retired at 62. She was a devoted member of Upper Mills United Church having served as treasurer from 1957-1997. She enjoyed being a member of Maple Leaf Temple #30 Pythian Sisters. Resting at MacDonald Select Community Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Pythian Memorial Service to be held 7 pm Wednesday. The funeral will be held 2 pm on Thursday from MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Boyce Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to Upper Mills or Milltown United Church , Canadian Red Cross, Saint John Extra-Mural Program would be appreciated.
