So sorry to hear about Joel, He was a great guy and I had a few adventures with him. The one that stands out the most is a trip we both made (on the spur of the moment) to Halifax in 1976. Having never been to Halifax before and with no maps we arrived around 1 in the afternoon, starved of hunger we saw this restaurant that said great food. We went in only to discover it was an Indian restaurant but we ordered some food and ate our first curry dish. Hot as can be and lots of water later we were on our way back home.
I even reached out about 2 years ago via a site called classmates but we never did make contact. I left St Stephen in 1982 and lost touch with him and many others so a bot of a shock to see he had passed.
He was a good friend in the short high school time we knew each other. Joel was a really special guy and I never forgot about hm.

I am from Alberta and I was just talking to my sister Susan Smith and she told me that Joel Greenlaw had pass away recently.
Joel and I were friends years ago and we worked on the ships together with Cyril Arsenault, Ron Gardener, Ronnie McLean, Joey Mohan, Alison Finnie and the boys, oh yeah, we partied together and had lots of fun.
I miss all of my old friends and I hope you never forget the good old times.
I want you to enjoy a poem I wrote years ago.
LET US BE
Let us be as strong as we can, even though at times we are weak.
Let us listen even though we have things to say.
Let us be understanding, even though at times we are confused.
Let us see the sun shine even though it is not shining.
Let us not judge the other, even though ourselves are being judged.
Let us be forgiving, in a very forgiving way.
Let us look forward and not at our sometimes awkward past.
Let us be thankful for what we have and not weigh ourselves down
with the things we do not have.
Let us see the goodness in one another and not at our downfalls.
Let us be as true as we can, even though we are not perfect.
Let us nourish one another, just a mother nourishes her infant.
Let us see the sunsets in each other’s eyes and only say kind
words that is music to the others ears.
Let us speak from our heart, even though at times it will hurt.
Let us accept the things we cannot change and move towards the things we can.
Let us live for tomorrow, with no signs of sorrow.
Let us not wear yesterday’s burdens or tomorrow’s fears, for they do not exist.
Let us be as happy as we can, for each happy moment will be sure of itself.
Let us not stand up for the things we die for and let us not give up the things we live for.
Let us not be afraid of failure, for it can create true success.
Let us promise to promise the promises we promise to promise. It does make sense.
Let us see and enjoy all the little things in life for they make up our world.
I invite you to read these couple of scriptures.
Isaiah Chapter 41 verse 10
Isaiah chapter 26 verse 19
John chapter 5 verses 28,29
Isaiah chapter 29 verse 4
Revelation chapter 21 verse 4
These scriptures with time will help with you healing.
Your friend
Tony Smith
