Obituary of Bonnie Epstein

EPSTEIN  BONNIE  - With dignity and surrounded by loved ones, Bonnie Epstein passed away at home on November 12th, 2020.

Bonnie was predeceased by her late husband, Dr. Hans Epstein, brother in law, Duane Ellis and her parents, Virginia (MacVay) and John Pinkerton Hastey Sr.

She is survived by her children, Christi (Hugo) of North Carolina, Susan (Mike) of Halifax, NS, and Robb (Marti) of St. Stephen, NB. Her sister, Jan Ellis of St. Stephen, brother, John Pinkerton Hastey Jr. (Heather) of Amherst, NS and sister Susan Hastey, of Halifax, NS. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her grandchildren, in which her legacy will live on.

Bonnie was an avid cook, with an ability to remember the slightest details of a long ago recipe. She loved to share these and her vast knowledge of cooking with special friends and family, or anyone who might ask.

She loved animals and would always feed birds and squirrels when ever the opportunity arose.

Generous to a fault, she would quietly help anyone that she could, never asking or expecting anything in return.

She looked forward to her daily telephone calls from her sister, Jan and her life – long friend Donna Mitchell, where they would enjoy one another’s company and share in Bonnie’s great sense of humour.

Bonnie especially loved visits from her two granddaughters Ginny and Katie Wilson, who were fortunate to grow up near her. They will very much miss seeing their  “ Nana B”.

By Bonnie’s request, there will be no service. Her family and some friends will gather at a later date to remember Bonnie’s sense of humour and kindness.
