Obituary of Ernest E. Guthrie
GUTHRIE ERNEST E. – At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday February 14th, 2024; Ernest Edward Guthrie; husband of the late Neola Edith (Leighton) Guthrie.
Born in Grand Harbour, Grand Manan, NB; he is the son of the late Benjamin Floyd & Myrtle Clair (Foster) Guthrie.
Ernie worked all of his life in the fishing industry; seining and lobster fishing.
He was a former member of Grand Harbour Baptist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors; especially riding along on his tractor, digging for clams and cutting wood.
Ernie is survived by his children Timothy Lloyd Guthrie (Kathy) of BC, Melinda Jane Scott (Guthrie) of JJ Plymouth, NS, Tammy Lynn Carty Guthrie(Roger) of Wentworth, NS, Galen Bruce Guthrie of Toronto, ON, 5 stepchildren Trudy Ann Griffin, Ruth Eileen Small, Dorothy Alice Beal (Richard), 2 step sons William Stewart Small (Kathy) , Phillip Small all of Grand Manan, NB, several step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, 1 sister Zelda Foote (Wilbur) of Grand Manan, NB, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ernie was predeceased by daughters Lorraine Williams, Rosalie Jean Small, Pamela Marlen Guthrie, a sister Nellie McLaughlin, 2 brothers Ivan Guthrie and Nelson Guthrie.
By request of the family there will be no funeral service. A private family interment service will take place at Spruce Hill Cemetery at a later date.
