Obituary of Jackie T.M. Flynn
FLYNN JACKIE - (F & A.M.) unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital on Friday October 13th, 2023, John Thorpe Metcalf “Jackie” Flynn; husband of Melody (Fletcher) Flynn of Wilson’s Beach, Campobello, NB. Born on Campobello Island, NB; he is the son of the late Burton & Mildred (Cook) Flynn.
Jackie; also known to all who knew and loved him as “Capt. Jack” “Skipper”. Jackie worked all of his life as a commercial fisherman in the herring and scallop industry, carrying herring and then on to scallops and urchins.
Jackie worked very hard at everything he did and was deeply imbedded into his community. He was a member of the Campobello LSD, and served on the Campobello Chamber of Commerce. He was a brother in the order of the St. John Ambulance, served with the Campobello Fire Dept, and a member of the former Campobello Royal Canadian Legion serving as their President. Jackie also taught CPR and first aid at the NBCC in St. Andrews, NB. Jackie was a longtime dedicated member of the F & A.M, for over 30 years. His mother lodge was St. Marks Lodge #5 in St. Andrews. He was also a member of the Victoria Lodge #26 in St. Stephen, NB. He was a former worshipful Master of Sussex Lodge #7, Sunset Lodge #56 in Campobello. He served in many capacities such as Deputy Grand Master of District #5, former Master of both Sussex and Sunset Lodges, F. & A.M. and in Grand Lodge of New Brunswick.
Surviving in addition to his wife Melody are his son Lawrence Flynn (Kim) of Campobello, NB, daughter Lana Nealand (Rick Peterson) of North Carolina, daughter in law Lois, of Campobello, 5 grandchildren, Stacey Childers, Amber Childers, Kristen Flynn, Brandon Flynn and Dustin Flynn, 8 great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Silas, Grady, Kadynce, Kaden, Ashlyn, Ryden and Gabriel.
Jackie was predeceased by his son Rydell, his daughter Deidre Fletcher and a brother Burton C. “Sonny”
A Masonic Tribute service , presented by members of the F. & A.M will be held for the family on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 at 4:00 pm in the chapel of Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks St. St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506 – 466 – 3110).
Friends will be welcomed to attend a graveside service to be held on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Wilson’s Beach Community Cemetery.
