It is with great sadness and shock that I read of the passing of Hallie Bass. Treasured daugher, talented singer/musician, awesome nurse, and nurse practitioner. Hallie generously shared her talents. She had it all! Her gifts of sharing and caring are many. She was simply outstanding! What a great loss to her family and to the residents of Grand Manan. I cannot imagine Grand Manan without her! She left this world too soon!

So sorry to hear of Hallie's passing. We worked together in the Cardiac Catherization lab where she was doing research studies. This would have been in the late 1990s. I had heard that she was working on Grand Manan. She will be sorely missed by them. She was very passionate in her career and a great mentor and role model to the younger nurses. I am devastated to hear of Hallie’s passing. She was a a dear friend and colleague. We became friends during my time in Saint John and shared many adventures and laughs. Ski trips, hikes, tennis and small talk at one of our homes, with drinks of course, will always be remembered fondly. Her smile and laugh was infectious. We remained in contact over the years even though we lived on opposite sides of the country. My heart is broken and I am sorry I can’t be there today to celebrate your amazing life. My condolences to her family, family meant everything to Hallie. She loved with all her heart! Rest peacefully my friend, I will miss you terribly! Heaven has gained the most amazing angel

Hallie was an amazing woman who selflessly looked after friends, family and even strangers! I met Hallie in the Cayman Islands and enjoyed many years hanging out at the complex pool and having a drinks at the Treehouse. My favorite memory is when she rescued me when I fainted getting my belly pierced for my 30th birthday! We had a good laugh over that as we did many many times. I was so hoping to visit in September, you will be missed. Your sad departure reminds us all that you have to live life to the fullest. Cheers to a wonderful friend! Until we meet again... RIP. What a huge personality has gone from our lives! We will miss you and celebrate you, especially when your classmates get together at future reunions. Everyone has their favorite Hallie story. I met Hallie as an NP student in 2007. I felt as though I had known her my whole life. She always made sure that I was okay. Hallie was so kind, full of life, humorous and never missed an opportunity to share a story about her cats. She hosted my friend who was visiting from Maryland and I at her home for 4 days. Every morning she made sure we had the tastiest pastries from her favorite bakery and in the evening after work took us around the island.
Hallie was so generous and passionate no matter what the circumstances were.
My condolences to your family. You are among the stars my friend never forgotten.

We met Hallie during a very happy period in all of our lives when we were all living in the Cayman Islands. She was always cheerful and was an integral member of our Summerfield and Treehouse gang. Her dedication to and love for her nursing and nurse practitioner career was inspiring to all. Many of us were lucky to enough to have our silly injuries ranging from jet ski strains to belly-piercing blackouts to hangovers treated by her! Her smile will be missed and remembered by all who knew her. My deepest condolences to her family and many friends.

We met in the early 80's at SJRH where she was a RN in Emergency and I was in the SICU - you knew Hallie had come for a late night visit by her laughter. My dearest sympathies to Hallie’s family. I have so many Hallie stories I don’t know where to start. I graduated with Hallie in 2007 as we were both in the NP program together. Hallie spent many nights at my house during our studies for our classes and projects. I was a single Mom at the time and my daughter loved Hallie and loved to hear about Hallie’s kitties and always wanted to see pictures of them. One night Hallie told the storey of how “Kitty Stranger” (said with French accent) got her name. Lol my daughter learned a life lesson on how you shouldn’t prance around at night time or you might find yourself in a predicament Aka pregnant with kitties haha Ab was 7 at the time and still talks about Hallie and Kitty Stranger to this day. Then there was the time Hallie, Kate and I went to Toronto for a work conference. Hallie had a kazoo in her pocket from a choir event and decided to play on the corner of Younge street. I was dying laughing because people were dropping money at her feet thinking she was a struggling musician. Oh my if they only knew how successful she was. So many fun memories of Hallie. Hallie left a foot print in everyone’s life that she touched. She had a zest for life and a salty tongue that most sailors wouldn’t even know words of. She lite up the room wherever she went and we so appreciated her. Hallie you will be missed. You were a great NP, colleague, and friend. I am thankful to have had the chance to know you, my life was made better because of you.

I was blessed to get to know this unique, wonderful funny, spirited, knowledgeable women when I started as educator of the GMH hospital! To say she was one of a kind is truly an understatement! She was a mentor to many and thought of all the “girls” at the hospital as her own family! She loved each and every one of them! She certainly was taken from us way too soon…. Instead of tears she would say have a drink and remember me! So cheers to you Hallie …. You will be fondly remembered by all your friends and family …. Rest in peace my friend.

I was so shocked and saddened when I learned of Hallie's passing. She was loved by so many and will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was so good, kind, helpful and devoted to her work, her patients and, of course her cats. Hallie was really a big help to me when I found out I had high blood sugar. She was very concerned and got me on insulin right away, showed me how to use the needle and kept a check on me for several week. Rest In Peace, Hallie, and know that you were loved and will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family at this time.a

I was a Nursing classmate of Hallie’s, she was very kind and smart. Our long exams were written in the amphitheater at UNBSJ where Hallie usually sat at the top. Fifteen minutes into one these exams I had panic set in as I heard footsteps coming down the stairs beside me only to look up and see Hallie with a finished exam in hand! Not only did she complete them in record time, she held one of the highest marks of the class. Hallie was a great and giving Nurse and is very missed. May you rest in peace my fellow classmate.
