Obituary of Nelson W. Tidd
Nelson Tidd, a lifelong resident of St. Andrews, New Brunswick, passed away on May 5, 2023.
Nelson is survived by his children Kaitlyn-Dawn Kluna, Lauren Tidd, Clair Tidd, Alex Haun – who in his words, was considered to be “the son he never had;” his sisters Elaine Tidd, Patsy Tidd, Bernice McCurdry, and Dianne Tidd; and his grandchildren Connor Sarnercki, Emmet Kluna, Emil Kluna, Austin Haun and Marcus Haun. He is predeceased by his brother Louie Tidd; mother Marion Tidd and father Llewellyn Tidd.
Nelson was a well-known and loved resident of St. Andrews, New Brunswick. A “quick trip” to the grocery store would often take over an hour as Nelson loved to strike up conversation with anyone he knew, which in his case, was most of the town. Storytelling came naturally to Nelson and often had those who listened on the edge of their seat.
Nelson was a dedicated worker at Kingsbrae Garden for about 20 years, and his presence will be missed greatly by those who had the opportunity to work alongside him. Nelson had a history of working several trades, such as spending time as a diver on salmon sites, working as an ambulance driver, being a part of the fire department, and proudly working alongside his brother, Louie, doing carpentry. Nelsons favorite project was restoring the Pendlebury Lighthouse.
Nelson took great pride in being a father, and his love for his children was expressed daily. Nelson was the kind of person who was always willing to share what he had with anyone who needed it, and supported those around him in any way he could.
Nelson frequently enjoyed golfing with his friends, and a golf tournament in his memory will be planned at a later date. Anyone who knew Nelson knew he was an avid Boston Bruins fan and would take any opportunity to remind others that Boston is the superior team. Nelson was a family man and had a strong, unconditional love for all his siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. Nelson will be greatly missed by his Kingsbrae family and many friends.
By Nelsons’ wish cremation has taken place. A graveside service in celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 21st, 2023 at 3:00 pm at St. Andrews Rural Cemetery. Archdeacon John Matheson officiating.
