Obituary of Rhoda J. Palmer
The children of Rhoda J. Palmer (nee Campbell) announce her peaceful passing in St. Andrews New Brunswick at the Passamaquoddy Lodge on Sunday February 5, 2023 - one month short of her 100th birthday. Rhoda was the last surviving member of her immediate Campbell family.
Rhoda was pre deceased by her Parents William Campbell and Pearl (nee Dick) Campbell, husband John A Palmer, her siblings Stephen A Campbell and Lydie M Allen (nee Campbell).
Rhoda is survived by her three children, John W Palmer (Anne) Fredericton, NB, Susan J Williams (Paul) St. Andrews NB and Peter J Palmer (Holly Winchester) Halifax NS; her five grand children Gina O’Leary (Tim) of Halifax, NS, Amy Mallais of Fredericton NB, Evan Williams (Angela) of Moncton NB, Kiara Palmer, Montreal and John Liam Palmer, Halifax NS; her five great-grandchildren Jacob, Carter, Ryan and Delaney Mallais all of Fredericton NB and Nicholas Williams of Moncton, NB.
Rhoda was born in Saint George in 1923. She married John A Palmer in St. George NB, March 10, 1944. After serving with the Carleton York Regiment during the war in Europe, John returned home and they lived in Fredericton where she spent most of her adult life.
After John's death in 1987 Rhoda lived in St. Andrews, and then the Passamaquoddy Lodge the last 5 years until the time of her death.
Respecting Rhoda’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
A sincere thank you to the staff of Passamaquoddy lodge for their kindness and care shown toward our mother with special mention to Emma who could always bring a smile to her face.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rhoda’s memory to the Passamaquoddy Lodge or charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
Our mother's favourite place was her cottage at Lake Utopia where she spent many enjoyable summers.
