Obituary of Tanya M. McKnight
McKNIGHT TANYA - It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Tanya Mary (Calhoun) McKnight, wife of the late Wayne McKnight of Oak Bay, NB. She died peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, January 19th, 2023 surrounded by family in her home in Oak Bay N.B.
Tanya was born in Fredericton N.B. to Ruby and Lewis Calhoun on November 23, 1947. A graduate of Fredericton Business College, Tanya had success in a number of businesses including a hair salon, a ceramics studio and working along side her husband Wayne as the owners of McKnight Christmas Tree Farm, McKnight U-Pick for apples and strawberries, and a little market in Oak Bay. The couple enjoyed a winter home in Florida in the off-season.
She took great pleasure in the time she got to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tanya enjoyed a number of crafting hobbies and volunteered with numerous community programs, including Meals on Wheels.
Tanya is predeceased by her first husband, Paul Kelly and her second husband Wayne McKnight and her young son Darren, her parents and one sister Wanda Calhoun.
Tanya is survived by her sons Warren McKnight of Oak Bay and Jason (Stacey) McKnight of Fredericton. She will be greatly missed by her siblings, Joyce Dickinson of Florida, Larry (Marilyn) Calhoun of Keswick Ridge, Marnaca (Garrie) Lambert of Saint George, and Dwight Calhoun of Fredericton. She leaves 6 grandchildren, Larissa (Kyle) Marshall, Kayla (RJ) Hochwarter, Laura McKnight, Jordyn McKnight, Jason Jr. (Kathryn) McKnight, Jeffrey (Jennifer) McKnight, and 8 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone from Extra-Mural and home support who provided care for Tanya. Thank you to those who visited, called, and sent cards and flowers to brighten her final days.
The family will receive friends at Humphreys Funeral Home on Saturday, January 21st from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Friends are invited to attend the celebration of her life officiated by Pastor Shureen Mouseau on Sunday, January 22nd at 2:30pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
