Obituary of Roger W.F. Wheaton

    WHEATON, ROGER W.F. – Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022; Roger Wellington Foster Wheaton, husband of Ghislaine (Turnbull) Wheaton of St. Stephen, NB. Born in Dorchester, NB; he is the son of the late Foster & Pauline (Atkinson) Wheaton. 

Roger attended Moncton High School. He went on to attend Teachers’ College and UNB in Fredericton. Along with his studies he was involved in many sports such as basketball and competed at the national level in track and field.

Roger started his teaching career at Moncton High School, then he moved to St. Stephen where he shared his passion for teaching at all levels before retiring in 2000. Roger was an active member of the NBTA and continued with the NBSRT.

Roger & Ghislaine loved to travel.  This passion led them on many adventures such as camping across Canada, a year in France with their children and teaching for a year in China.  During his travels, Roger  2³ ∑ π and it was always good.

He was a longtime member of the St Stephen Lions Club. During his time as a member, he enjoyed helping host the Fisherman’s breakfast, working the road tolls and, his favourite, being the radio voice of The Santa Helpers program for many years.

Surviving besides his wife Ghislaine of 52 years, are his children, Julie – Anne Thomasch of Morrisville, NC, U.S.A, Jennifer Wheaton of Mayfield, NB, Jamie (Tanya) of Fredericton, NB and one sister Sharon Blake (Bob) of Second North River, NB, 5 grandchildren, Mason, Lauryn, Landon, Julia and Maxine (Daniel), 2 great grandchildren Simon and Nolan.

 Along with his parents, Roger was predeceased by one brother Roy.

A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Milltown St. Stephen, NB. The interment will follow at Milltown Catholic Cemetery followed by a reception at St. Patrick’s Hall.

The family received friends during a time of visitation on Tuesday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Humphreys Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506 – 466 – 3110)
