I’ve been away since October 2, so couldn’t attend Jackie’s service. Some of my most treasured memories of being a friend and neighbour to Jackie. She would come down to the house to visit Mum, Loie and Aunt Shirley and treated my home like it was hers and I loved that. We shared so many laughs, I can tell you lots of stories. And together we saved lots of cats I have missed seeing her when she was still in her home and will miss her even more now.

Jackie was a wonderful lady and I have many fond memories of her starting my early childhood years. Though Jackie never had the official title of "Grandma", she sure treated all of us like we were her grandchildren. I have many memories of Jackie growing up, from visits to St. Stephen spent playing with her numerous cats, looking at the hundreds of pictures, decorations and mementos around her house and sneaking many peppermint candies or chocolates from the top drawer of the cabinet by her front door. I also remember her annual visits to Fredericton so she could "shop until she dropped" playing Santa Claus for all the grandchildren to make sure that everyone got what they wanted on their list. And when it came to "the list", she'd always chase us to make sure we got it to her by Halloween (at the latest).....which was odd, because the shopping never seemed to begin until about 2 weeks before Christmas :). Jackie loved Christmas and she made sure we were all spoiled, which was completely unnecessary but very much appreciated.
Jackie was a monarchist, a staunch conservative, a community leader, a nurse and a loving friend, aunt and sister. My wife Charmene and I have discussed on many occasions how interested she was in what was happening with our kids Claire and Chase despite the fact she'd only met them a few times due to the distance between us. More evidence that Jackie loved all that were her friend or family member. Her love of her family was most evident when she and Evelyn took turns taking care of their sister (Geraldine), our "Nana" in her final days. A truly selfless act that I know the whole family appreciated.
The word selfless might be the best way to describe Jackie. Everyone should be so fortunate to have lived life the way Jackie did.....taking care of anyone and everyone who was in need. She was a shining example of love and integrity for her friends, her family and her community.
She will truly be missed but not forgotten.

I worked with Jackie at the hospital years ago. She was a good and caring nurse. For a long while she worked in the pharmacy. She always kidded me about a bottle of zantac that I had ordered. At that time the meds for each patient were sent to the floor not the whole bottle! We always had lots of laughs .
Jackie was very community minded. She helped so many people who became unable to look after doing their errands and whose children did not live in town. A true friend to many. I am very glad to have known her!!
In her memory we are giving a donation to the food bank and we think Jackie would approve.
Sincerely Dave and Heather Hart

We send our deepest condolences to Jackie's family. She was a good friend to our mum Dot. Jackie and Mum worked together on many political campaigns over the years. We also knew of her good work through my sons' participation in the Boy Scouts program, I can remember at least one occasion where she paid for a Scout uniform (anonymously of course) so that a young person could take part. She will be greatly missed! RIP Jackie
A donation in Jackie's memory has been made to the Charlotte County SPCA.
Sincerely, Judy and Don Mitchell and family, Dot Murchie and family

I have many fond memories of Jackie. I recall being here at home after surgery and had a knock on the door and she said if you need a nurse you know where am- so, sweet of her to offer to be of help to me. She knew I lived alone and was willing to step up to be of help. I remember spaghettis feeds at Donna Hossack's with Jackie and our group of friends. I remember serving on the Chocolate Fest Committee with her and The St. Stephen Fall Fair at the old Arena. She was direct , but very kind as well and I came to appreciate that quality in her.
When I was elected to Municipal Council for the first time, Jackie's vote count was closest to mine and she narrowly lost. It never affected us going on to become good friends and working together for the good of the community.
May she rest in peace..

Always enjoyed our talks, usually opened by Jackie asking, “ what’s happening in Fredericton” which meant the legislature. She had a keen eye for politics at all levels. RIP

My condolences to Jackie's family. I worked with Jackie years ago at CCH. I also worked closely with her in Scouts Canada, and spent time cooking hot dogs with her, for our Cub Car races. She loved her volunteer work. Jackie will be remember by many for her dedication to her community.

We are very sad to say good bye to Jackie......a very special lady with a wonderful outlook on life and an amazing sense of humour. My fondest memory of Jackie was her devotion to her mother and her mother’s friends.....she would transport all the ladies to Fredericton each year for the exhibition....my mother Doris was the manager of the Ex and her home was on the grounds of the Ex....so these ladies escorted by Jackie would arrive at Mum’s with a carload of homemade food to eat while on this adventure....they had so much fun, ate great amazing food and then made their way home....this was an annual event for many years...the food and their company was enjoyed by us all!

I was sad to learn of Jackie's passing. My deepest condolences to her family. I grew up next door to her, and she was a wonderful neighbour and friend to my whole family through many years. She was always there when needed, not just for those of us in the neighbourhood, but for anyone who needed a helping hand. Jackie always had time for whatever kids might be around, and was always interested in what we were doing, and then taking the same interest in our kids and grandkids as they came along. She will be deeply missed by so many of us.
