Obituary of Bette Ann Barbara Nesbitt
Bette Ann Barbara (Holliday) Nesbitt – It is with great sadness that the family announce her passing on Saturday, September 10th, 2022; at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, NB, following a brief illness.
Bette was born at Chipman Memorial Hospital, St. Stephen, June 5th, 1939.
Bette is survived by her sisters Dorothy (Holliday) McGlinchey of Elmsville, NB and Gerri (Holliday) Robicheau of St. Andrews, NB, and her sister in law Joyce Howard (Daniel of Nevada, many cousins, nieces and nephews; who were all very special to her.
She was predeceased by her parents Gerald & Elizabeth (Dyer) Holliday, her husband Eric Leroy Nesbitt of 44 years and Eric’s parents Chester & Thelma Nesbitt, her brothers – in law Robert McGlinchey and Reg Robicheau and brother in law John “Jack” & his wife Mary Nesbitt.
Bette started her working life at the Royal Bank, then to NB Tel as a telephone operator, where she met Eric. Next she went on to work for the Charlotte County Hospital where she worked in the medical records department and retired after 32 years. She & Eric loved their cottage on Digdeguash Lake and would go there to make their pickles every fall. Bette travelled extensively with Eric and cousin Mary Caldwell and in later years with Gerri visiting Karen & Todd Anderson in Calgary, helping make tourtiers and fruit pies.
She also enjoyed cruising down the Rhine River with Gerri and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, even temper and dry whit, as well as knitting and crocheting thousands of dish cloths to leave with anyone she may have visited. With Eric’s encouragement; Betty achieved her pilots’ license.
Bette was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years and enjoyed and loved her sorority sisters.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, September 15th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. Archdeacon John Matheson officiating. Friends are invited to attend the only visitation with family at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm
