I regret that I just learned that Irene recently passed away. She was one of 24 people I interviewed about their experiences in the Cotton Mill for my Oral History, published in 2004. Without question, Irene’s interview was one of the most detailed, informative and articulate that I did. Her job was perhaps the most demanding in the weave room, requiring patience and hours of concentration on detail. Her memory was razor sharp and she seemed to still have enthusiasm for her job and clearly recalled it with pride. I had never met Irene before the interview but I found her to be a bright and delightful personality. I will remember her fondly. My condolences to the family. Bill Eagan.

We miss Irene, This picture of Irene and Mom (Elaine) was taken at my cottage at Hopps Lane in the summer of 2013. We had fun and the kids always enjoyed how she would make a little fuss over them and make them feel special. On several trips back to Manitoba Flori and Adi occupied themselves with crayons, coloring books or games Irene had given them. In those days it was three days of travel and we had no video! Rest in peace Irene. XO
