Obituary of Austin G. Calder
CALDER REV. AUSTIN G. … At the Northwood Nursing Home in West Bedford, NS on Tuesday, March 3rdh, 2015; Rev. Austin Gerald Calder; husband of Wilma M. Calder. Born in Campobello, NB; he is the son of the late Colwell & Kathleen (Thurber) Calder. A veteran of World War II Rev. Calder served with the Canadian Armed Forces. He went on to study theology at the New Brunswick Bible Institute graduating in 1956. He also attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, U.S.A. He took his first pastoral charge at Allagash, Maine for 4 years, then went on to Moncton, NB for 10 years, Truro, NS for 16 years, the North Road Baptist Church in North Road, NB for 2 years and Wilson’s Beach Baptist Church for 2 years. He also dedicated 10 years as an evangelist and spiritual motivational speaker in Eastern Canada and the United States. Surviving in addition to his wife Wilma are his children; daughter Grace Patterson of Halifax, NS, daughter Lorraine Mahan, son Rev.Austin Calder Jr. all of Florida, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother Wendell Calder of Maine, and sister Margorie Lank of Campobello, NB. Austin was predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister. The funeral service in celebration of Rev. Calders life & ministry will be held on Saturday, May 16th, 2015 at 2;00 pm at North Road Baptist Church, Campobello, NB. Rev. Austin Calder Jr. officiating. The interment will take place in North Road Cemetery following the service followed by a reception in the church hall. In memory of Rev. Calder donations to the North Road Baptist Church, 500 North Road, Welshpool, NB, E5E 1C7, would be appreciated by the family.
