Obituary of Lillian A. Roy
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Lillian A. Roy, passed into the arms of her loving God on January 8th 2015 in her 100th year at her home in Bayside NB, surrounded by her children at the time of her death. Lillian graduated from the North Bay, Ontario Normal School and taught for several years in North Bay. She was a member of the West Ferris Lionettes and Catholic Women’s League. Lillian was an avid curler who was so proud of having skipped an 8 ender game in a bonspiel. She was the wife of the late Leo R. Roy (1997). For most of their married life, they lived in North Bay, Ontario and raised 5 children. Lillian is survived by her five children: Victoria (David) Ridgway, NB; Robert (Jocelyne) Roy, Ont.; Susanne Roy, West Virginia; Joanne (Jon) Naismith, Ont.; Mary Jane (Rene) Roy-Ephraim, Netherlands; six grandchildren: Sean (Gisele) Ridgway B.C.; Lara (Andrew) Cooper, NB; Tamara (Don) Molloy, Ont.; Kristie (Pierre) Gionet, Ont.; Ryan (Natalie) Naismith, Ont.; Erin (Al) Bedard, Ont. She is also survived and loved by thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was the last surviving member of her family. In addition to her late husband Leo, she was pre-deceased by her brother Martin (Irene) Roche and her sisters Barbara (Norman) Fanthorpe and Dorothy (Jim) Gallardi. After suffering a stroke in 2006, Lillian lived with her daughter Vicki and son-in-law David in Bayside NB. The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude for the compassionate care and love provided by her caregivers: Judy Crichton (six years), Marissa Evangelista (five years), Suzanne Sutherland (4 years), Amanda Williams and Kathy Lyons (one year each). We couldn’t have managed without our caregivers and the help we received from the entire St. Stephen’s Extra-mural staff. Thanks is also extended to Kindred Home Care. Visitation hours at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Andrews will be Saturday, January 10th from 10.00 am followed by a Celebration Mass of Lillian’s life at noon. Mass will be presided over by Father Paul Doucet. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Humphreys Funeral Home, St. Stephen. Funeral services and interment will be conducted May 16th, 2015 at 10:00 am at Holy Name of Jesus, 146 Beth Street in North Bay, Ont. Fr. Scarfone will celebrate the mass with interment to follow at St. Marys Cemetery. A reception will immediately take place at Martyn's Funeral Home.
