Obituary of Mary Margaret Caples

CAPLES, MARY - The family of Mary Margaret (Tobin) Caples, widow of Francis (Frank) Patrick Caples, are deeply saddened to announce that she has passed away peacefully at the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, NB on Thursday evening, March 6th, 2014. Born in Saint John, NB on April 21st, 1917, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A daughter of the late Joseph F. Tobin of Cape Broyle, Nfld and Margaret Mary (Fitzgerald) Tobin of Spaniard’s Bay, Nfld, she was predeceased by two brothers, Vincent Tobin and Joseph Tobin. For the greater part of her life Mary resided at Oak Bay, NB where she was an enthusiastic participant in golf and curling and an active walker around the Oak Bay area. She also enjoyed spending many years wintering with her husband, Frank, at Kissimmee, Florida. Mary was a very independent minded woman, maintaining her residence in Oak Bay, after the passing of her husband in 1998, until the advancing stages of Alzheimer necessitated her moving to Passamaquoddy Lodge. Mary is survived by two daughters, Geraldine (Peter) Maher and Marianne Caples; five grandchildren;seven great grandchildren and one great … great … granddaughter. By request there will be no visitation. The family wish to extend to the management and staff of Passamaquoddy Lodge their deep, heartfelt gratitude for all the care, kindness and support provided to Mary during her residency. A memorial service, in celebration of her life will be held at a later time in April, with date, place and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations to Passamaquoddy Lodge or to a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
