Obituary of M. Rose Gallagher

M. Rose Gallagher, 88, passed away peacefully December 15th, 2013 at the Campobello Lodge, Welshpool, NB, following a lengthy illness. She was born August 18, 1925 in Rexton, NB, the daughter of Victorine (Maillet) & Frank Doucette. She grew up and worked various jobs in the Rexton area. Upon marrying Barney Gallagher she moved to Campobello Island, where she worked in the sardine factory and raised her family. She later returned to Moncton where she enjoyed activities with family & friends. She loved to bowl, throw darts, make quilts and crotcheted many fancy things. She enjoyed going to the mall daily for shopping, stopping in Tim Horton’s for coffee and a muffin while chatting with friends. She took many trips with her game leagues and senior citizen groups. Her most memorable trip was to Pittsfield, MA with her sister to visit her brother, and while there, they all took a road trip to Atlantic City, NJ. She enjoyed spending the 4th of July and Christams with her daughter in Robbinston, where the family and friends would all gather. She was predeceased by her two sons, Gregory Gallagher in August 2008 and R. Eliot Gallagher in October 2008, grandson Wade Gallagher, and granddaughter Bonita (Smith) Devine, brother George Doucette and sisters … in … law, Glenna and Teresa and former husband Barney Gallagher. She is survived by her only daughter Roseleta Smith of Robbinston, Maine, grandson Travis Smith of Texas, great granddaughter Veronica Bragdon and friend Jeremy Chandler of Beals, Maine, great grandsons Tyler Devine of Robbinston and Braiden Gallagher of Campobello, two great great grandsons Kouper and Kobe of Beals, Maine. She is also survived by sisters Irene Beauchamp of Midland Ontario, and Margaret Bauer of Rexton, NB, brothers Tommy of Rexton and Vincent and wife Helen of Pittsfield, MA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her niece Rose Marie and daughter Jackie, and her nephew Bernie and wife Bernadine. A graveside service will take place at 3:00 pm (Canadian time)at Wilson’s Beach Community Cemetery, Head Harbour Road on Sunday, July 27th, 2014. Rev. Robert Weaver officiating.
