Obituary of Bessie Medcof
MEDCOF BESSIE – At the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrews, NB, on January 5, Bessie (Wren) Medcof, wife of the late Dr. John Carl Medcof of St. Andrews , NB. Born in Bootle, England near Liverpool, in 1909, she is the daughter of the late Captain Joseph Ranby and Frances Ina ( Clark ) Wren. Bessie’s parents returned to St. Andrews at the end of WWI and Bessie grew up there. After high school and teachers college she taught school for a number of years and married Carl in 1942. She was a longtime parishioner of All Saints Anglican Church and a member of the Women’s Auxillary. She was also a member of the MAD Club (music, arts and drama) and a volunteer at the library. Bessie is survived by her daughter Susann Medcof of Australia; sons John Wren (Irene) and Carl Ranby, of Toronto; 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister Josephine Calder of St. Andrews, nieces, nephews and their children. She was predeceased by sisters Lelia and Frances Wren. By Bessies’ request cremation will take place. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, July 10th, at 2:00 pm at All Saints Anglican Church, King Street, St. Andrews,NB. The interment will follow in St. Andrews Rural Cemetery, followed by a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
