Obituary of Terry Mais
Mary (Terry) Talbot Mais died peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends, on October 20th, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Terry was born in 1954 in Montreal to parents Norman and Margot Mais. She lived in St. Andrews, N.B. for most of her life, with periods in Vancouver, Ottawa and Fredericton. She attended the University of British Columbia and the NB College of Craft and Design. Terry will be remembered for her generous heart and her love of family, friends, music and nature. During her time in St. Andrews, she hosted many house concerts at her home on Bantry Bay Farm overlooking the St. Croix River, and was an active volunteer with several community and charitable organizations. She is survived by her children, Jenny (Craig Smith) and Luke Macdonald; her grandchildren, Isabella and Rowan Smith; and siblings Susan, Tony (Lori) and Peter (Maggie), as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and by her husband, Ian Macdonald. A service will take place at the Chapel of Ease, the small stone chapel in Chamcook, N.B. on Friday, October 26th at 2:00 pm. A celebration of Terry’s life will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a local charity or community organization close to Terry’s heart, such as the St. Stephen Food Bank or Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre.
