Obituary of Joan C. Carson
CARSON JOAN C. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joan Covell Carson (nee Patterson). Joan passed peacefully, August 4, 2019, surrounded by the love of her family, at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB. Joan arrived in Canada with her family from Seaton Delaval England when she was 2 years old. She was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Covell) Patterson. She is predeceased by husband William G. Carson, sister Mabel Patterson , her in laws : Arthur( Muriel) Carson, Donald ( Marion) Carson, Douglas ( Mary) Carson, Frithjof ( Viola) Carson ,Anna ( Carson) and husband Robert Savage, and Ramona (Carson) and husband Peter Hanton. She is survived by her three sons John ( Nancy),of St. Andrews NB, Robert ( Pauline ), of Saint John NB, and Carl ( Shauna) St. Andrews NB; Grandchildren Stephanie Dumaine ( nee Carson) and her husband Patrick , Ashley , Alana, Craig and Dawn Carson, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan celebrated her 98th birthday June 24th and remained independent and living in her own home until a brief stay at Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen NB, following a heart attack. She was in the CWAC Service in WWII as a machinist. She was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 8 for over 70 years. She was longtime member of the All Saints Anglican Church and A.C.W (Anglican Church Women), She became a self-taught landscape oil paint artist when she was 80 years of age and in the fall she would paint, winter was reserved for jigsaw puzzles, spring and summer her scooter, reading and her frequent Tim Hortons or Honey Beans trips or going for a drive were welcome any time of the year! She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Mother in law and friend. Special thanks from the family to the many people in her life that helped her both medically and otherwise to ensure she maintained her independence and could remain in the home she and her husband built and raised a family in. The family would also like to thank the nursing staff and doctors who treated Joan in her final days at Charlotte County Hospital. A funeral service in celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at All Saints Anglican Church, King St, and St. Andrews. A reception will immediately follow at the Anglican Church Hall followed by the interment at St. Andrews Rural Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church during a time of visitation on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
