Obituary of Lewis Malcolm Gilliland

Gilliland, Lewis Malcolm ‘Mac’ At his home on the Kingston Peninsula on Friday, May 10, 2019, the son of Lewis and Fanny (Cronk) Gilliland and husband of the late Phyllis (Ogden) Gilliland. Born at Moss Glen on April 3, 1933, Mac worked as a landscaper before joining the Provincial Department of Transportation, retiring as road supervisor for the Kingston Peninsula after 23 years of service. He was an enthusiastic hobby farmer and enjoyed working in his woodlot and sawmill. Married for 62 years, Mac and Phyllis enjoyed dancing and visits from family and friends, especially their grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by foster son Adam Nicol, grandson Jesse Coughlan, sisters Margaret and Lottie and brother George. Survived by his children, George (Brenda) Gilliland, Saint John, NB, Ross (Noreen) Gilliland, Rothesay, NB, Jane (Derrick) Freeze , Beaver Dam, NB, Ellen (John) Matheson, Saint Andrews, NB, Laura (Brian) Despres, St. Albert, AB, Calvin (Cathy) Gilliland, Kingston, NB, and Monica (Vince) Pevlin, Kingston, NB. Also survived by 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Although there will be no visitation, a funeral service will be held in Trinity Church, Kingston, on Friday, May 17, beginning at 3:00 pm, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. The interment will take place in Trinity Church Cemetery.
