Obituary of Leona B. Matthews
MATTHEWS LEONA B. - At the Charlotte County Hospital on Monday, February 29th, 2016, Leona Bara(Porter)Matthews,wife of the late Aubrey Matthews of Campobello,NB. Born in Campobello she was the daughter of the late John & Nellie(Brown)Porter. A resident of Campobello all of her life she met and married the love of her life Aubrey and wanted to raise a large family. She did so and was a proud and loving mother to 11 children. Losing her husband at a young age she persevered and raised these children entirely on her own. Leona was a loving mother devoted grandmother and great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family being predeceased by several sisters and brothers. Leona was also predeceased by 2 sons Maynard & Johnny. Leona is survived by her children Gail McKinley, Gailen Matthews, Almeda Stanley (Gary),all of Lubec,ME,Robert (Sharon) of Wilsons Beach, NB, Austin of Machias, ME, Bernadine Case(Peter) of Lubec,ME, Elliott (Jetta) of Brunswick, ME, Dennis (Harriett) of St. Stephen, NB and Juanita Parker (James) of Wilsons’ Beach, NB, several grandchildren, great grand grandchildren, great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at Wilson’s Beach United Pentecostal Church, Campobello, NB from where the family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 2 … 4 pm only on Thursday, March 3rd, 2016. By Leona’s request there will be no formal funeral service. A graveside service in which friends will be welcomed to attend will take place later in the spring at the Old Wilson’s Beach Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
