Obituary of Albert Leland Cowie
COWIE ALBERT L. – At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026; Albert Leland Cowie of Oak Bay, NB.
Born in St. Stephen, NB; he is the son of the late James & Leverta (Guptill) Cowie.
Albert established the Collingwood Rest Home in Pennfield, NB before selling it and working as an LPN with Centracare, in the active treatment ward for many years. Albert was the second president of the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses, helping guide their early days. He enjoyed reading and playing the piano, often offering his musical talents across the community, developing a reputation around Pennfield. Albert was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his cousins, especially Nancy Wilxox of Grand Manan, NB and his special friend Arleen Matheson of Pennfield, NB.
He was predeceased in addition to his parents by his Partner of 43 years Ron Ford.
By Albert’s request there will be no visitation or formal service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his parents.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated.
