Obituary of Donald Edwin Graham
Graham, Donald Edwin
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Graham announce his peaceful passing at the Charlotte County Hospital on May 17th, 2025, surrounded by loving family.
Affectionately known as Dad, Chuck, Grampie, Donnie, Boo Donnie and “Oh, no, not you again”.
Donnie is predeceased by his cherished wife of 62 years, Janet Mae (Titus) and his siblings Lloyd, Charlie and Doreen.
He is survived by his son John (Catherine Fetherstonhaugh) and their sons Alex (Lauren) and Brian (Carolyn) and his daughter Sandy and her sons Ben and Lucas. Grampie’s grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is also survived by his dearly loved sister, Shirley McGonigal of Langley, B.C. and by numerous nieces and nephews: David, Dale, Richard, Patty, Charlene, Scott, Colleen, Maureen, James, Brenda and their families.
Donnie enjoyed playing hockey, baseball and track and field in his youth.
At the age of 18 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, subsequently returning to his hometown of St. Andrews to work at the Biological Station as a scuba diver, and a member of the Invertebrate group. He retired from Federal civil service after 38 1/2 years.
Donnie was an avid outdoorsman, angler, hunter, and birder. He was very knowledgeable of nature and animals, and enjoyed time in the woods and at his camp on the Digdeguash River.
He also enjoyed woodworking, fly tying, and in later years was an exceptional baker who frequently enjoyed a good game of cards and a Blue Jays game.
Donnie was actively involved in community services as a clerk of session at Wesley United Church. He helped establish the Eastern Charlotte Lion’s Club when he was King Lion of the St. Andrews chapter. He attended St.Andrews rural cemetery meetings well into his 90’s. Donnie was a wealth of knowledge of local history and geography. His stories and sense of humour will be missed.
Happy fishing!
In keeping with his wishes, a Memorial Service and reception will take place later this summer.
The family would like to thank the staff of Home Support Services, Lonicera Hall, Extra-Mural Program, and especially the CCU team at Charlotte County Hospital.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wesley United Church, the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Association or a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Humphrey’s Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, NB E3L 2B2 (506-466-3110).
