Obituary of Velma Fletcher
FLETCHER VELMA P. - Went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018; with her family and pastor by her side. Patti, as she was known by her friends and family was born on Campobello Island April 4, 1932. After graduating from Campobello High School she moved to Mass, U.S.A. where she was employed by Westinghouse Factory. After returning to Campobello she married Raymond Fletcher and continued to live on Campobello throughout the rest of her years. She was also a longtime volunteer for the St. John Ambulance. She worked in the Welch’s fish factory packing fish and in the kitchen of the Campobello Company, but her first priority and most loved job was that of mother and fisherman’s wife. Patti lived a long and devote christian life. She will be remembered by her family, church family and many friends for singing and witty personality. She will be sorely missed. She is predeceased by her parents Claudia & Howard Matthews,husband Raymond Fletcher, 2 children Lisa Fletcher and Kenny Raye Fletcher,3 brothers, Floyd,Glenn and Baxter Matthews,her brother in law Paul Cline and two nephews Chris Matthews and Darren Matthews. She is survived by her beloved son Robert LeRoy Fletcher (Anna),4 grandchildren Dylan Cline (Taunya Russell), Kyle Fletcher (Stephanie Barker), Jade Fletcher (James Robbins)& Robyn Fletcher, 5 great grandchildren Asia Robinson, Alexa Cline, Ryan Fletcher, Jordyn Fletcher, Karsyn Jean Robbins, 1 sister Glenna Cline, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation will take place. A memorial service in celebration of her life will take place June 2nd, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the parish hall of St. Anne’s Church, Welshpool, NB. John Wry officiating. The interment will follow in the Old Wilsons’s Beach Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Campobello Beacon of Hope Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
