Obituary of Joyce B. Coffey
COFFEY JOYCE B. … At the Lincourt Manor, St Stephen, NB on Monday,January 4th,2016; Joyce Bernadette Coffey of St. Stephen. Born in Milltown, NB; she is the daughter of the late James & Hazel (Wilson) Coffey. In Joyces’ early years she served as a Sister of Charity serving in the Diocese of Saint John. She went on to Teachers College in Fredericton and received her Bachelor of Education. Joyce’s teaching career took her to places like Montreal, London England, Saint John, St. Andrews and finishing up her career in St. Stephen at St. Stephen High School. She was very active in her community and a dedicated communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Milltown; serving with the CWL for a number of years and as past president. Joyce served on the Board of Home Support. She was a very avid golfer, being a member of the St. Stephen and Calais Golf Clubs. She enjoyed curling and was considered full of athletic spirit to those who knew her. Joyce is survived by her brother William Coffey of Saint John, sister Lois Bell of Millinocket ME, USA, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Philip Coffey. By family request there will be no visitation, however friends are welcomed to attend the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Milltown, NB on Thursday, January 7th, 2016 at 12:00 noon. Rev. Fr. Paul Doucet as celebrant. A reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall. The interment will take place in the spring in Milltown Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Stephen Church would be appreciated by the family.
